01
What is included in my spring clean up?
Spring clean up is a lawn raking process done to remove dead grass, sticks and leaves from grass areas. It also includes removal of debris from hardscapes, flower beds and edging.
02
When does the spring clean up service begin?
This service usually begins the second week of March, depending upon the weather and ends the last week of April.
03
When should I expect my weekly maintenance to begin?
We usually start the first Monday of May. Weather permitting.
04
How high will my grass be cut?
We cut the grass at least 3 inches, which is the recommended high. Each time the lawn is mowed, no more than 1/3 of grass should be cut.

05
When is the best time to plant grass seed?
Grass seed can be planted in either spring or fall. However, fall is the best time because the ground is warm and there is less weed competition. By far the best time is late August to mid-September. This allows time for the seed to germinate and grow, for the grass to be cut once, and for an application of fertilizer to be applied before the first hard frost.
06
How often should I water grass seed?
Seed needs to be kept wet (moist) until it germinates. After germination a normal watering schedule should be followed.
07
How often do I water my new sod?
Depending on the weather, you want to water 1 or 3 times per day. If it is a rainy season, you can water once a day. If it is sunny and hot you want to water 3 times per day. You want the roots of your new lawn to stay wet for 2 weeks. Use your own judgment. If you have standing water, it is probably being watered too much. If your lawn is starting to turn yellow then you need to water a little more.
08
When is the best time to landscape?
Overall, spring is the best time to landscape. Getting the plants established before the hot weather sets in is important. Summer isn't a bad time, but it can be hot and it’s essential to keep things watered. Fall is also a good time. In the fall, you can landscape until it starts to get cold, and the ground starts to freeze. If the ground isn't frozen you can landscape, but sod or grass seed won't grown until it gets warmer. It's best to leave that step out if you plant close to winter.
09
How often should I water my new plantings?
Twice a day; for the first two weeks for a period of 12-15 minutes each time. The next four weeks 15-20 minutes every other day.
Then water as needed for the rest of the season.
10
When should I have my shrubbery pruned/trimmed?
It is recommended in the summer season after shrubs and trees have flowered.
11
Can I fertilize my lawn at the same time that I seed my lawn?
Yes, but you should NOT use a high nitrogen fertilizer. You should use a starter fertilizer which is low in nitrogen.
12
When is the best time to transplant trees and shrubs?
Late fall or early spring before budding is the best time to do your transplanting because most plant material is dormant and you will have a less likely chance of the plant going into shock. You also need to make sure you water the newly transplanted material before you fill the hole in with dirt. And every day for the next week, you should water the plant using a slow trickle to ensure that the roots get a thorough soaking.
13
How do I prune a rosebush?
To prune a rosebush, take your clippers and place them at an angle a quarter inch above the first three-leaf stem that you want to leave on the branch. Squeeze the clippers to make a clean cut. Remove all dead blossoms and branches from your rosebush. Also, prune off branches that do not follow the shape you'd like your rosebush to achieve.
